![]() ![]() The Angel of Death by Alane Ferguson starts off really mysteriously with an abundance of questions that have to be answered. Howeveris she’s telling the right person is the real question. “What’ll happen when he shows up? You gonna put me on the floor?” After the fight Camryn realizes that telling someone about her problems helps to take some of the weight off her shoulders. This causes Lyric to feel hurt and like Cammie is putting him in front of her, and they get into a big fight. Camryn chooses to open up to her new boyfriend, someone she barely knows, instead of telling her best friend Lyric. When Cammie begins a new relationship everyone is surprised because she goes from being someone who barely dates, to dating a popular kid. However, when her teacher turns up dead and no one can figure out what happened to him, the secrets become too much to handle. Cammie also becomes secretive about communicating with her mother, who left when Cammie was three and has been gone ever since, until now. In the book The Angel of Death, the second book by Alane Ferguson, Cameryn Mahoney has become more focused about the way she works and the way she is around people. ![]() ![]() ![]() Wilson, published by HarperCollins (November 12, 2019) is available in hardcover. That was how I found the right words to effectively summarize three books, by turning stories of adventure, trials and triumphs into a novel. However, words without deeds cannot just be enough because actions speak louder than words in most cases. In other words, we can become a summation of our thought processes and a product of the words we speak. ![]() That was how the biggest movement of change in recent history gained the kind of momentum required to turn the son of a single mother into the President of the United States of America. As human, we often under-estimate the power of words, especially those with the possibility of bringing into existence that which otherwise would not be, or to reinforce destiny. ![]() After all, the Scriptures tell us that God created the world with the power of spoken words. ![]() Words do matter, regardless of what some folks may want us to believe. ![]() ![]() ![]() Rose starts to investigate her own feelings and beliefs and determine whether she is truly living the life that she is meant to (or wants to live). Still, she eventually can’t hide the darkness that surrounds her – and that’s when the story gets really interesting. Of course, in typical Rose fashion, she first determines that she can’t talk to anyone about the strange things that are happening to her (this is one of my few issues with the book – it makes no sense to me that she doesn’t confide in Lissa or Dimitri sooner, but it does seem to be the way that Rose consistently operates). When Rose starts seeing ghosts, she is faced with the idea that she might be losing her mind and she has to decide who she can truly trust to confide in. ![]() In this book, the relationships between all of the major characters are tested. ![]() ![]() When I was telling my friend about Her Name in the Sky, I said "so dark," at least four times in a row. ![]() This book is definitely not She Drives Me Crazy. As they try to figure out their relationship, they grapple with the religious and cultural constraints of their community and, more severely, with internalized homophobia.
